KIT and microworks sign strategic cooperation agreement

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and microworks have signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement in order to develop and produce gratings for use in X-ray differential phase-contrast imaging. The research center has licensed to microworks the right to utilize relevant KIT patents related to LIGA technology, including exclusive rights to five existing patents on grating aspects. The agreement also covers any patents that may be registered during the collaboration period (with retroactive effect from the beginning of 2012 until the end of 2017). According to Joachim Schulz, managing director of microworks, "This is a major step forward for microworks and will greatly accelerate the development of a range of concrete industrial applications of the X-ray LIGA technique."
