Diagnostic details of COVID-19 at center of two new contracts for microworks

Two research groups have recently ordered sets of gratings for X-ray imaging from microworks.

Their main interest is to enhance the radiography of lung tissue in order to better understand the mechanism of COVID-19, the new coronavirus responsible for the current pandemic.  Microworks’ Managing Director Dr. Joachim Schulz comments: “After the recent success of dark-field X-ray imaging for the early detection of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), it is welcome news that our X-ray gratings may benefit the diagnostics of further lung diseases. Serving the healthcare sector is a tremendous motivation for our work.” See related news reports on the KIT website and on the TUM website.

Thomas Beckenbach, microworks’ Production Engineer, inspects an X-ray grating 40cmx8cm. This and similar gratings have been used by our customers in R&D projects for improving the radiography of the lung.
